A Wake Up Call

- Welcome to Remnant Radio Ministries. I’m Saul to Paul, but you can call me Paul. This is my story and my testimony that led me to this ministry and to a closer and more personal relationship with God.
- I invite you to join me on this journey, and it is going to be a journey.
- Before we get started, I thought it would be important for you to know a bit more of who I am, and why I am doing this, and perhaps why you should care to spend your time listening to what I have to say.
- Let’s start with my early years, growing up on the East Coast of the US in Maryland just outside of Washington, DC.
- I had what I would consider a pretty average childhood. My parents were and still are married. I have one sister. I grew up in an upper middle class suburb.
- I had lots of friends, I swam competitively, played piano (I had an ear for music at an early age), and I played soccer and other sports.
- I was always fascinated with space (my father worked on the space shuttle and NASA later in his career, but also had a number of advanced degrees in engineering and science. My mom was a Spanish and French teacher.
- But when I was young, I wanted to be an astronaut, watched a ton of cartoons and movies like Star Wars, played my fair share (or more) of video games, and I read a lot of science fiction books.
- I attended a local Protestant / Methodist church in the Rockville area regularly, attended Sunday school and services with my family, and thought of myself as a Christian and a “good person”. But I did not know a lot about God and definitely did not read or understand very much about the Bible, despite many Sundays going to church.
- Towards my later high school years I had a few relationships that soured me towards women I was dating, and that carried on into college. While I gave myself the label Christian I was not really studying or walking in its teachings, and in many ways was an unrepentant sinner. I frankly justified it based on how I was treated, and that I was owed something for all the hard work I had put into college and my early career.
- I decided to pursue a degree of Electrical Engineering (influenced by my father), and got my BSEE and MSEE with honors at both the University of Maryland at College Park and the University of Pennsylvania. I then joined a program with a telecommunications company GTE which is now Verizon straight out of school, and traveled the country moving through different business units gaining great working experience and making a ton of friends as I moved around.
- When I met my wife during one of those stints, but I was completely unprepared for her. But I was afraid of losing her so we pursued a relationship, ended up moving to Boston, and eventually got married.
- After a few years of inclement weather, we decided to move to the Bay Area of Silicon valley where I went through several jobs at a few companies – from consulting to mobile infrastructure and security to retail analytics and how elearning. I have two kids – one older son and one younger daughter, and ended up getting divorced in 2022 after a separation in 2021.
- Part of the purpose in my telling you all of this is hopefully this resonates a bit with some of the men out there who may be listening to my channel. What I experienced going through a divorce recently is something that impacted me in significant ways, and I believe my story can help you.
- The other part, and this is really important – is the transformational process that I have been through since about 2016 that crescendoed in 2019 to a big awakening moment for me. That was my crucial turning point in my walk. That’s the reason I chose Saul2Paul as my handle – my transformation from unrepentant sinner to someone who is trying to walk righteously to the best of my ability.
- But what happened? What caused that significant change?
- I’ve always felt spiritually guided throughout my life, in ways I can’t quite explain. It was mostly little things, nudges, or insights or thoughts, or little deals I’d make with God – then things would manifest and you could not just call it coincidence. Sometimes periods of deja vu would be very intense, and that still small voice in my head saying “listen to this”, or “work on that”..
- In 2016 I started listening to a podcast that opened my mind up to the possibility that things were not exactly as they seemed, and I already had a conspiracy mindset about certain things – world events, politics, and other macro and historical trends. The podcast host would always say “God is real, the Bible is real, and the devil is real – you need to get right with God.” And I’d say, “well that’s nice, you have strong faith – good for you!”.. but also was thinking, I’m just not so sure – I’m not convinced.
- Then in much the same way that Saul was blinded in the middle of the road on his way to Damascus by the unfathomable light of the son of God who stood in his path, I received a paradigm shifting insight that changed my life forever. The way I’d describe it is that I got hit up the side of the head by a God-sized 2×4 that shattered my reality, and it felt as if God literally shook me awake and said, “Paul I am God – I am real. You need to fear me and to take me seriously!”
- That’s what I will need to spend some time explaining to you – what that insight was, how I came to understand it, and why I think it’s so important for me to talk about this now. Especially if you are on the fence about God, an atheist, a man or woman who is living like a “lukewarm Christian”, walking in unrepentant sin that you can’t or don’t want to change, but who may even still think of yourself as essentially a good person. You might even call yourself a Christian and say things like “well God knows my heart”.
- This is the reason I’m starting this channel. This is the reason for remnant radio ministries.
- Well as I stumbled into this truth, I begun to repent, and I prayed for wisdom and discernment, and I believe I have been given access to that – a very healthy dose. Once I tell you more about that insight, you might disagree! But please bear with me, and please try and have an open mind. I promise to show you how it all fits together and is woven into a beautiful and amazing, supernatural story!
- Now remember, knowledge of this world often comes from man, but true wisdom comes from God.
- Wisdom starts with a healthy fear of the Lord – let’s read some scripture references that make the point clearer:
đ What Is Wisdom (According to Scripture)?
⌠Proverbs 9:10
âThe fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.â
Wisdom begins with reverent awe for Yahweh, rooted in relationship and obedience.
⌠Job 28:28
âAnd to man He said, âBehold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom, and to depart from evil is understanding.ââ
Wisdom is not only intellectual, but moral and spiritual â to turn from sin is to walk wisely.
đ How Wisdom Is Sought (and Who Finds It)
⌠Proverbs 2:1â6
âMy son, if you receive my words, and treasure my commands within you… Then you will understand the fear of the Lord, and find the knowledge of God. For the Lord gives wisdom; from His mouth come knowledge and understanding.â
Wisdom requires a heart that listens, a soul that seeks, and a mind that treasures Yahwehâs words.
⌠James 1:5
âIf any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.â
Yahweh generously grants wisdom to those who sincerely ask in faith.
đ§Â How We Should Seek Wisdom
⌠Proverbs 4:7
âWisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom. And in all your getting, get understanding.â
Itâs a priority â to be pursued above other pursuits.
⌠Proverbs 8:17
âI love those who love me, and those who seek me diligently will find me.â (Personification of wisdom speaking)
Diligent, intentional seeking is the posture of the wise.
đłÂ What Real Wisdom Looks Like (Its Fruit)
⌠Proverbs 3:13â18
âHappy is the man who finds wisdom, and the man who gains understanding; for her proceeds are better than the profits of silver… She is a tree of life to those who take hold of her, and happy are all who retain her.â
Wisdom brings peace, prosperity, and life â it is rooted in Godâs Word and character.
⌠James 3:17
âBut the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy.â
Godâs wisdom is spiritual, relational, and practical â not boastful or self-serving.
đĄď¸Â Warnings About Rejecting Wisdom
⌠Proverbs 1:24â26
âBecause I have called and you refused… I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your terror comes.â
Rejecting wisdom is dangerous â it leads to destruction and judgment.
⌠Hosea 4:6
âMy people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I also will reject you from being priest for Me.â
Wisdom includes knowing Godâs law â rejecting it leads to spiritual ruin.
đ Wisdom and the Torah
⌠Deuteronomy 4:6
âTherefore be careful to observe them; for this is your wisdom and your understanding in the sight of the peoples… who will say, âSurely this great nation is a wise and understanding people.ââ
The Torah (instructions of God) is Israelâs wisdom before the nations.
- We are told to work out our salvation with fear and trembling – and that’s how it started for me, after I was blinded by the truth on the road.
- Why? Because He is an awesome God! He is the Most High Elohim. He is to be respected, he is to be honored, he is to be worshipped, and yes, he is to be taken seriously.
- So I began to think about repentance. I knew I needed to repent for my sins of the past (and there were many), but I did now know how, and I did not know where to start. He showed me!
- Here’s the process:
- The first step is to recognize what sin is, and what sin you have done in your life
- The law, or torah – is like a mirror that reflects sin – it’s what allows you to see what right behavior is, and by using the mirror you can see the brown dirty smudge on your face. But the mirror (law) does not clean the smudge – it only shows that you have a smudge, and where it’s located so you can take appropriate action to get clean!
- Repentance starts by recognizing that God alone is sovereign, and He will judge – each according to his ways. If we wish to argue about right and wrong, or how we are made, we are like the clay pot arguing with the potter.
- To those who wallow in and practice and (and even worship sin) – we will be judged to eternal destruction. To those who follow His ways to the best of their ability and repent – to eternal salvation and life (that is our promise).
- Thus, we must 1.) be remorsefully sorry for our sin, 2.) we must stop sinning (knowingly and willingly), and 3.) we must then lean into God.
- How do we lean into God? We pray for his spirit to enter into us, strengthen us, and transform us so that we can go from glory to glory and disciple after Christ. We read his word so we can hear his voice and draw closer and nearer to him. And we practice what we read by applying it to our life.
- My Saul to Paul moment – where I got blasted in the face by the blinding brilliance of his truth: it shook me to my core, and I had to take him seriously for the first time in my life. This is my story, and this is my testimony.
- A few rules of the road as we go:
- I promise to never lie to you, and to always tell the truth – to the best of my ability.
- I don’t pretend to know everything, and I don’t want to come across that way – this is my journey, and if you are willing you can come along with me for the ride.
- What I am, and what I am not:
- I am NOT a prophet
- I am NOT a priest (yet)
- I am NOT a graduate of the seminary
- I am NOT your pastor
- I AM a follower of Christ
- I AM a Christian
- I AM an obedient follower of the Most High and His ways
- I AM seeking the kingdom and all its righteousness by putting God first in my life.
- This is my testimony: my testimony has value; my story must be told (and I am convicted of that)
- Who is this for? The remnant – because God wants a people who are FIT to meet him in the end times upon his return, his faithful and discrete servants who he says “well done” to..
- Why am I doing this? What do I have to lose? What do I have to gain?
- I’ve been repenting, observing, studying, listening, reflecting, contemplating, praying, and studying like a Berean for almost 6 years as of this recording. And I’ve been mostly silent on the public stage.
- But my time of silence is now over. I’m still time for me to speak. And if you are able, I’m asking you to listen.
- But this is not to glorify myself. Only the father and son can glorify me. This is to glorify Him. This is not for me to seek to earn points with men. This is to gain favor with my father.
- The other motivation: If I can awaken just one soul who turns from wickedness and repents from sin and leans in to God, like I did, then this entire ministry project was worth it!
đ Matthew 13:44 (NKJV)
âAgain, the kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field, which a man found and hid; and for joy over it he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field.â
- We must pick up our cross daily and follow him.
đ Mark 8:34 (NKJV)
When He had called the people to Himself, with His disciples also, He said to them, âWhoever desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me.â
This adds emphasis that the call to discipleship is for everyone, not just the twelve.
- If we put ourselves, money, other false idols, or even our family ahead of God in priority in our lives, we are not worthy of him.
- I asked for this knowledge, wisdom, and discernment. This is my cross I must bear. This is the talent I have been given. I am called for this reason to bring you this ministry.
đ Parable of the Talents â Summary
Reference: Matthew 25:14â30 (NKJV)
đ Overview
Jesus (Yeshua) tells a parable to illustrate what the Kingdom of Heaven is like, especially concerning stewardship, faithfulness, and judgment at His return.
âFor the kingdom of heaven is like a man traveling to a far country, who called his own servants and delivered his goods to them.â â Matthew 25:14
đ§âđž The Story
- A master entrusts three servants with his possessions:
- One receives five talents
- Another receives two talents
- The third receives one talent
- A âtalentâ was a large sum of money (but symbolically represents any God-given ability, responsibility, or resource).
- The master then departs on a journey.
đź The Servants’ Responses
- The one with five talents traded and gained five more.
- The one with two talents did likewise and gained two more.
- The one with one talent was afraid and hid it in the ground.
đ The Master’s Return
- The master returns and settles accounts:
- The first two servants are praised:âWell done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.â â Matthew 25:21, 23
- The third servant is rebuked:âYou wicked and lazy servant⌠Therefore take the talent from him, and give it to him who has ten talents.â â Matthew 25:26, 28
âď¸ Key Lesson
âFor to everyone who has, more will be given⌠but from him who does not have, even what he has will be taken away.â â Matthew 25:29
- Faithfulness with what God gives is rewarded.
- Neglect or fear-driven inaction results in loss and judgment.
- The unprofitable servant is cast into outer darkness (v.30), a metaphor for spiritual separation and judgment.
â¨Â Spiritual Application
- God gives each believer different gifts and opportunities.
- We are called to steward them with diligence and courage.
- When Messiah returns, He will reward faithfulness and hold us accountable for what we did with what we were given.
This is my testimony. I have so much more to share. Will you join me for this journey?
